Fiverr vs. TinyFirm for Small Business Websites: An Honest Comparison

You need a website. Fiverr shows hundreds of sellers starting at $50. TinyFirm's price list starts at $1,500. That gap makes people wonder if we are talking about the same job.

Often, we are not.

This post compares what a typical Fiverr website gig includes, what TinyFirm includes in a catalog build, and when each option makes sense. No trash talk. Fiverr works for a lot of people. We just want you to know what you are buying before you click "order."

What Fiverr Does Well

Fiverr is a marketplace. Sellers compete on price and speed. For the right project, that is a real advantage.

Low entry price. Budget gigs for a one to three page site often run $50 to $200. Mid-tier sellers listing five to ten pages commonly charge $300 to $800. Pro sellers with strong portfolios may charge $500 to $1,500 for multi-page work, and complex jobs can reach $1,000 to $2,500.

Fast turnaround. Many gigs promise delivery in a few days. If you need something live this week and your standards are flexible, that matters.

Huge variety. Logos, copy, SEO packages, WordPress setup, Shopify stores. You can shop piece by piece.

Reviews and portfolios. You can see past work and read buyer feedback before you hire. That transparency is genuine value.

If you need a quick visual refresh, a single landing page, or you already know exactly what you want and just need someone to assemble it, Fiverr can be the right call.

What a Typical $300 to $800 Fiverr Gig Includes

Market research across Fiverr website listings (2026) shows a pattern at the mid tier. This is what buyers usually get in the $300 to $800 band for a five to ten page site:

A pre-made layout with your text dropped in. The seller applies an existing design, swaps in your logo and copy, and delivers files or a login on a platform they chose (often WordPress or a page builder you did not pick).

Basic pages. Home, about, services, contact. Sometimes a few more. Inner pages often reuse one generic layout repeated with different text.

Limited or paid extras. Contact forms, Google Analytics (the free tool that shows how many people visit), Search Console (the free tool that tells you if Google can find your pages), and search setup are frequently missing from the base price or sold as add-ons.

Variable testing. Some sellers test on phones and browsers before delivery. Many do not spell that out in the gig description.

Limited accountability after delivery. Revisions are usually capped (two or three rounds is common). Ongoing updates, security patches, and "something broke six months later" support are rarely included unless you buy a separate maintenance gig or hire again.

None of that makes Fiverr bad. It makes the gig a narrow scope at a narrow price. The question is whether that scope matches what your business needs.

What TinyFirm Catalog Builds Include

TinyFirm builds websites for small businesses on a fixed price list. Every project starts with a short conversation and ends with a written quote, so you see the full scope before work begins. Below are the two most common build tiers and what is in the box.

Website Build: Launch ($1,500)

Built for a business that needs to look credible online without a big page count.

  • One to three pages (home, about or services, contact)
  • A contact form that emails you when someone submits, with basic spam protection
  • Google Analytics and Search Console connected (the free Google tools for traffic and search health)
  • Page titles, short descriptions for Google search results, and a list of your pages so search engines know they exist
  • Deployed on your web address (like yourbusiness.com) on fast hosting
  • Tested on phone and desktop before go-live
  • A short handoff so you know how to request changes

Typical project time: about 9 to 14 hours of professional delivery, not a same-day assembly job.

Website Build: Standard ($3,500)

Built for a local business that wants to turn visitors into customers.

  • Five to seven pages with custom layout variation (not one inner page copied six times)
  • Polished writing on key pages
  • Contact or lead form with email notification
  • Analytics, Search Console, and on-page search basics on every main page
  • Deployed on your web address with cross-browser and mobile testing
  • Handoff with instructions for requesting edits

Typical project time: about 18 to 26 hours.

Why the Price Gap Exists

A $300 to $800 gig and a $1,500 to $3,500 build are different products.

Hours. A professional small business site (not a same-day gig) typically takes 9 to 14 hours for a small build and 18 to 26 hours for a standard build. That covers discovery, design, build, security setup, search and analytics setup, testing, and handoff. Marketplace gigs at the low band often compress that into layout swap and delivery.

Accountability. TinyFirm sends a written quote before work starts. You approve it. You review a private preview before go-live. The site is yours to take with you. Fiverr's model depends on which seller you pick and what their gig actually promises.

What is bundled vs. upsold. On Fiverr, forms, analytics, and search setup are common upsells. On TinyFirm catalog builds, they are included because a business website that cannot capture leads or be found on Google is not finished work.

Ongoing care. Neither a bare Fiverr gig nor a one-time TinyFirm build includes monthly maintenance by default. TinyFirm offers optional Care plans ($99 to $499 per month) if you want someone keeping the site updated after launch. Many Fiverr buyers handle that themselves or hire again when something breaks.

When Fiverr Is the Better Fit

Choose Fiverr (or a similar marketplace) when:

  • You need the lowest possible upfront cost and accept tradeoffs on scope and support.
  • You already have branding, copy, and a clear layout in mind and just need assembly.
  • The site is temporary, experimental, or internal.
  • You are comfortable managing hosting, forms, and updates yourself.
  • You have time to vet sellers, read reviews, and manage revisions within gig limits.

That is a valid choice for many solo operators and side projects.

When a Quoted Build Makes More Sense

Choose a scoped build (whether from TinyFirm, a freelancer at $1,500 to $6,000, or a studio at $3,000 to $10,000) when:

  • The site represents your business to customers who will judge you by it.
  • You need a working contact flow, analytics, and search basics on day one, not as later upsells.
  • You want a written scope, preview before launch, and a clear handoff.
  • You may want ongoing care but want the option to cancel and take the site with you.

TinyFirm sits in the freelancer-to-studio price band ($1,500 to $6,500 for catalog builds) with a narrower, repeatable scope documented up front. Agency itemized builds for a five-page site often run $4,200 to $7,700 before add-ons. Our Standard build at $3,500 is below that band with a defined deliverable list.

What About DIY Platforms?

Squarespace, Wix, and similar tools cost about $200 to $600 per year for the software alone. You still supply the time, the copy, the photos, and the decisions. That is the right path if you enjoy doing it yourself. It is a different comparison than Fiverr vs. a done-for-you build. We covered the full cost picture in How Much Does a Small Business Website Cost in 2026?.

After Launch: Neither Option Means "Done Forever"

Websites need updates. Software security patches roll out. Your hours change. You add a service. A form stops sending email. Cheap builds and expensive builds both face this reality. The difference is whether you have a plan for it. Read What Website Care Plans Cover for how monthly care works.

A Note on TinyFirm's Other Product

TinyFirm also sells a subscription for people who want to build their own software using AI inside a coding app called Cursor. That is a separate product from Web Services. This post is about websites we build and care for on your behalf. Same company, two different doors.

The Bottom Line

Fiverr wins on lowest upfront price and speed for narrow scope. TinyFirm wins on defined deliverables, bundled analytics and search setup, tested launch on your domain, and a written quote before work begins.

Neither is cheating the other. They are different products at different price points. Pick the one that matches how much scope, accountability, and ongoing support your business actually needs.
